Rakesh Roshan Opens Up About His Battle With Cancer, Says "This Ailment Has To Be Fought With A Very Strong Mind"

Rakesh Roshan has had his own share of battles in his life. Over two years back, the actor turned director revealed that he has cancer. But, he has been battling it with a smile. In fact, in a latest interview, he has revealed that he had the gut feeling long before the tests were done.

Talking to TOI, Rakesh Roshan said, "I knew I had cancer even before I went to test for it." He had detected a blister under his tongue that wouldn't go despite all the medications. "It was not giving me any trouble--no pain, no burn, nothing. I don't know why but I had a gut feeling that such an obstinate blister could only be cancer. I shared my gut feeling even with the doctor."

But now, he is maintaining a healthy and disciplined life to combat it. He did get weak due to the chemotherapy and radiations, but he fought it all. He added, "This ailment has to be fought with a very strong mind. The victory has to come with the mind triumphing over matter. Thankfully, I have a strong mind and I don't let life's jerks get the better of me."

Not only does he work out for at least an hour everyday, but he also maintains a balanced lifestyle. But, aren't there any cheats? He says, " "Cigarettes have become bygones for me, but I still take two pegs almost every evening. It's not allowed but I feel mentally fit, and that's all that matters isn't it? My latest PET scan says I am fine."
