Five years after making her Bollywood debut with Yaariyaan, Rakul Preet Singh has now hit gold with De De Pyaar De. Her romcom drama has went past the 100 crores mark and with this the Punjabi girl from Delhi has managed to become the newest entrant in the elite 100 Crore Club.

"Her Yaariyaan was a good success at the Box Office but it was an ensemble starrer post which Rakul didn't do many Hindi films. She instead ventured down South and delivered quite a few successes there. In between she did Aiyaary with Sidharth Malhotra which was more of a special appearance. Unfortunately, the film didn't do well, though Rakul continued to do well down South. Films like Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Spyder, Dhruva and Kick 2 ensured that she stayed in the big league as an A-lister," an insider comments.

However, when De De Pyaar De came calling for her, Rakul Preet Singh was game for it as she was playing a key protagonist who fell in love with a man [Ajay Devgn] double her age with his ex-wife [Tabu] coming into play as well.

"I am glad I did this film as everyone tells me that it is a very deserving success," says Rakul Preet Singh, who continues to pick her films down South as well, "Sometimes, it is not just about the money that the film has made but also the kind of appreciation that it gathers from all quarters. De De Pyaar De is one such film."

She is particularly pleased with the fact that audiences have not just liked what she did in the film but also taken her character as well as dialogues home.

"Audiences have liked Ayesha and also the dialogues that I have spoken in the film. That's revalidation of conviction that I had in the film. It was borderline bold movie even in the commercial space and still there is a good segment of audiences which has lapped it up," continues Rakul.

Expectedly, filmmakers are approaching her to be a part of their next ventures, though Rakul is taking a cautious approach.

"There may be something to talk about my next film in a month or so. Meanwhile, I am looking forward to my next Hindi film, Marjaavaan. It has come out quite well too and is entirely different from what I did in Yaariyaan, Aiyaary or De De Pyaar De," she smiles.

Considering the fact that this Milap Zaveri directed film has the Ek Villain cast of Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh along with Student of the Year 2 girl Tara Sutaria in the main leads already, it would be interesting to see what Rakul Preet Singh brings to the mix.
