The coronavirus outbreak has left the entire world in a state of panic and as a step to help stop the spread of the pandemic, our country has been put on a 21-day lockdown. While people are practicing social-distancing and have quarantined themselves at home, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma decided to play an April fool’s prank on his fans and followers by tweeting: “My doctor just told me that I tested positive with Corona.” He later clarified that this was just a joke, leaving fans shocked with his sense of humor.

In a recent chat with Mid-Day, RGV opened up about his tweets and shared, “The only way to remain sane in such a [grim] situation is to joke about it, else we will get into depression. I knew I would get trolled for it. I believe a complaint has been filed against me for spreading false information. But it was meant as an April Fool joke, nothing else.” When asked if he wasn’t worried about hurting his fans’ sentiments, he stated, “I [put out the tweet] because I was getting bored.”
