One of the most adored and popular actors of Indian cinema, Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on 30th April after losing his two year battle with cancer. The entire world is not only heartbroken, but also in a state of shock with his sudden demise. However, he did leave us with many memories to remember him by. In his 50 year long career, the superstar wowed the audience with his spectacular performances and won many hearts with his characters in films like Karz, Chandni, Love Aaj Kal, Kapoor and Sons among others.

While he has left a void in our lives that will never be filled, we are thankful that he taught his craft to son Ranbir Kapoor. In the foreword of his father’s autobiography titled Khullam Khulla, Ranbir had opened up about the same and shared that he learnt to respect work by the veteran actor. He shared that when he became an actor in 2006-07, he would observe Rishi getting ready for his shoots. “I saw his enthusiasm even at that age, after all those years in the industry. He had it in him to better his craft, go shopping for his costumes or examine every minute aspect. He is that kind of man; very detail-driven. This is something I deeply admire.”

While Ranbir did think that Rishi portrayed similar roles in the first 25 years of his career, he felt that during his ‘second innings’ the actor worked really hard to reinvent himself. He started experimenting and had fun at work. “I sensed a child-like enthusiasm and a certain abandon when it came to his approach to roles.” Well, we guess that’s what made Rishi Kapoor one of a kind.

He connected with the audience and was passionate about what he did. Rishi Kapoor was, is and will always be a superstar.
