Rohit Shetty on Cirkus: ‘We've made a cute comedy film with Ranveer; it's not similar to Angooor’

Filmmaker and Bollywood’s action king Rohit Shetty is currently soaring high on the success of his recently released film Sooryavanshi. One of the most anticipated project of the year, the action thriller features Akshay Kumar as a cop and Katrina Kaif as a doctor with exceptional extended cameos by Ranveer Singh aka Simmba and Singham Ajay Devgn. Well, up next the filmmaker has two exciting projects in the pipeline-- Singham 3 and Cirkus. While Ajay’s cop drama has been making headlines since the past few days, Rohit has now shared an interesting update about Ranveer’s comedy

In a chat with Bollywood Life, the filmmaker revealed that Cirkus has not been adapted from the 1982 film Angoor. He explained, “We've made a cute comedy film with Ranveer called Cirkus. It's not similar to Angooor at all. If I have to genuinely tell you, Cirkus is not Angoor, it's Comedy of Errors, which is a Shakespearean play, on which numerous films have been made. In black and white, Do Dooni Chaar was made, Angoor was made, even in Bengali there's an adaptation of Comedy of Errors. Some have also written books on it. So, it's from that play, but it's a totally different take, a different universe, if I have to tell you.”

Talking about when the comedy will hit theatres, Rohit shared, “And there's a lot of time left for it to release, too, as we had to wait a long time for Sooryavanshi and now we're promoting it. We don't have any release date in mind, we'll complete its last schedule in December.”

Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde and Varun Sharma in the lead, Cirkus features Ranveer in his first ever double role. Lots to look forward to with this one!
