RRR: Director SS Rajamouli Receives Threats For His Depiction Of Komaram Bheem; Read Details

RRR has been one of the most anticipated films next year and one of the main reasons for that is SS Rajamouli helming the film. It also boasts of a stellar star cast and would mark the debut of Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt into Telugu cinema. Butt now, it looks like the film has run into some trouble and it is due to the character introduction video of Komaram Bheem played by Jr. NTR.

In the video, the character can be seen wearing a skull cap towards the end and this has not gone down well with many. Bandi Sanjay, an MP from Karimnagar constituency while talking to New Indian Express said, “Komaram Bheem led a heroic fight against the Asaf Jahi dynasty and featuring him in a skull cap is not acceptable. Can Rajamouli make a film casting Owaisi with a vermilion and a saffron kanduva? If you release the movie (RRR) with the same scenes, BJP Karyakartas will obstruct its release.” Another MP, Soyam Bapu from Adilabad said, “Portraying a tribal leader with soorma, skull cap and kurta pyjama is incorrect. Komaram Bheem sacrificed his life for the rights of Adivasis and fought against the Nizam’s rule. If Rajamouli is not going to change the look of Jr NTR, we will not even hesitate to burn down theatres.”

Filmmakers receiving threat for their discretion in portraying a character is not new. Sanjay Leela Bhansali faced trouble in releasing Padmaavat after Karni Sena men threatened and even attacked school buses! The same group had also raised objection with the title of Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Laxmmi Bomb, which was later changed to Laxmii.
