Saif Ali Khan was unhappy with Sara Ali Khan picking Kedarnath as her debut? Actress has this to say about it

Sara Ali Khan and Saif Ali Khan share a friendly camaraderie as father and daughter and they flaunted it on Koffee With Karan ahead of Sara’s debut back in 2018.  Regardless there were reports at the time suggesting that Saif is unhappy with Sara’s choice to debut with Kedarnath which was helmed by Abhishek Kapoor and also starred Sushant Singh Rajput.

The actress was recently quizzed about these rumors and it is not a dramatic surprise that the actress refuted these claims. The actress while talking to India.com said, "My father knows better than to make statements about what I should do best because he himself as my father has encouraged me to make my own decisions. He is also an actor so he understands better than most people that ultimately you cannot be a part of any film that you don’t feel convinced about and therefore, it’s very important for you to trust your own gut."

She added that it didn’t matter eventually since the film earned her lots of love and appreciation. "Long story short, I don’t think he ever had a problem with anything that I did as long as my heart and soul were in it. And no matter what he may or may not have thought, after the fate of 'Kedarnath' and after the love and appreciation I got – zahir si baat hai that I knew what I was doing and I am very proud of what I chose and what I did,” she added.

Saif had in 2017 spoken about Sara's debut in Bollywood and told DNA, "Fear is the most driving factor in the industry. Why would she want that for herself? Look at where she studied. After having done that, why wouldn’t she want to live and work in New York, rather than do this? I am not looking down on acting, it’s just it is not the most stable profession. And everyone lives in constant fear. And there is no guarantee that despite doing your best, you will succeed. This is not the life, any parent would want for their children."

Kedarnath was a love story based on the backdrop if the Uttarakhand floods of 2013. Sara was cast opposite Sushant and their pairing to created quite a buzz. Sara’s second film Simmba followed quick on the heels of her first one which released later in the same month in 2018.
