Sanak: Hope Under Seige: The Vidyut Jammwal Film Is NOT A Remake Of John Q? Insiders Believe So

It has just been a few days since Vidyut Jammwal's upcoming film, Sanak: Hope Under Seige, was announced. The posters looked amazing and it piqued our interest. However, with the hospital bed, and bloodstains over it, and the fact that there might be a hostage situation; many believed that the film would be a remake of Denzel Washington's John Q. However, looks like that's not the case.

The latest report in Bollywood Hungama suggests that the film would be based on an original concept. A source from the production house told the portal, "Sanak is an original story and not an adaptation of any other film. It should not be compared with any other movie, in any manner, as we have worked really hard for Sanak.”

Earlier, another report had tagged the film as the official remake of John Q and said, "Sanak is an action-thriller revolving around a lone hero who fights overwhelming odds in a restricted environment. It's the official remake of Denzel Washington's critically-acclaimed 2002 Hollywood film John Q. The film has already gone on floors in Mumbai and will be completed by mid-March to hit cinemas in the second half of this year."

There has been no official word about it though. The film marks Vidyut's fifth collaboration with Vipul Shah. It would mark the debut of Bengali actress Rukmini Maitra in Bollywood and also stars Chandan Roy Sanyal and Amole Gupte.
