Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh Is Next Only To Salman Khan's Bharat Amongst TOP OPENING WEEKENDS Of 2019

When the list of Top-10 anticipated films of 2019 was being drawn up, not many were featured. Kabir Singh yes, it did find a place amongst the Top-10 films to look forward to in the first half of the year at least.  No one in their wildest dreams would have placed it amongst those films that would take one of the best opening weekends of the year. That too when it was set to be an A-rated affair. After all, Shahid Kapoor hasn't quite given biggies in the past and the biggest openers of his as a solo lead have hovered around the 10 crores mark.

However, the film has not just taken a superb opening in its first three days, it is actually second only to Bharat which was an event release this Eid.

There are so many factors that make Kabir Singh success really sweet. Other than the fact that it is an A-rated film, it also released on a non-holiday. There was no event factor going in its favor either. It wasn't really catering to the family audiences and was specifically targetted at youth. Still, the film has gone ahead and collected huge, hence surpassing even the next in line, Total Dhamaal, which was a quintesential family entertainer with a lot in store for the kids.

In terms of the first week numbers, Kesari [100.01 crores], Gully Boy [95.20 crores] and Total Dhamaal [94.55 crores] are next to Bharat in the top scoring films list. The manner in which Kabir Singh is currently doing, one can expect a 100 crores plus score for the film by the time the first week comes to a close.
