Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore in her article for Outlook Magazine named Alia Bhatt to be the game changer of 21^st century. The brief of the magazine for her was to write about an actress who has “who has changed the image of the heroine in Bollywood, who straddles both commercial as well as critically acclaimed films, who could evolve as an actress in the coming years” and Sharmila Tagore could not think of a better person apart from Alia.

Sharmila Tagore rightly pointed out that Alia Bhatt is the most deserving candidate in Bollywood to win the title of a game changer of 21^st Century. In a career that is only 5 years and 10 films old she has defied all the rules in Bollywood and re-written them for herself, something that only a rare few has managed to do in a male-dominated Bollywood.

Raazi’s Milestone Success

We have all been rejoicing the success of Raazi and the brilliant performance by Alia in the film, but Sharmila Tagore pointed out that why the success of Raazi is a milestone of sorts. She rightly argues that it is difficult to remember another film in recent time that was made by a woman, told the story of a woman and crossed 100 crores at box-office without the typical mainstream masala components like an item number.

Creating Her Own Identity

When Alia made her debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, most people wrote her off as another pretty face who would be the eye-candy in hero dominated films. However, from her second release itself, Alia announced that she is so much more than that and ever since she has been able to carve a niche for herself in Bollywood.
