Sonam Kapoor Calls Out Instagram After Sister Rhea Not Allowed To Report Death Threat Comments Several Times

As the nepotism debate in Bollywood rages on, several star kids and bigwigs in the industry became the targets of trolls and abuses on social media by enraged fans social media. Stars like Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Salman Khan and others have been on the receiving end of several harsh comments and even death threats.

Recently, Sonam Kapoor’s sister, producer Rhea Kapoor was given a death threat by a user on Instagram: “Tu toh kutte ki maut maregi din (You’ll die a dog’s death someday).”

However, Rhea when she tried to remove the comment she was not allowed to as Instagram claimed the comment did not violate community guidelines and suggested that her to unfollow, mute or block the person. Sonam shared Rhea story and tagged intagram writing how “@instagram doesn’t think death threats is a violation. Or their India team can’t read Hindi.”

Rhea with the screenshot wrote, “Of course I will block this individual but are you doing your part to keep the ‘community’ safe?” She also shared a screenshot of the comment, “Just charming. Of course I am happy to block unnecessarily hateful people without giving it a thought but what pisses me off is that a death threat isn’t against your ‘community guideline’ Instagram?”. She also mentioned that this has happened several times.

Last month Sonam too had shared screen shots of unsolicited comments she was receiving after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death which sparked the debate around insiders and outsiders in the industry. The actress said that she has been reporting all such users and also spoke about her privilege as star kid and how she it all because of her karma.
