Sonam Kapoor Talks About Dealing With Social Media Hatred; Says She Didn’t Disable Comments Out Of Fear

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise left the entire nation in shock. Soon the nepotism controversy and outsider vs insider debate became the biggest and most discussed topics of the industry, along with alleged drug links. While many ‘outsiders’ opened up about their struggle and recalled their early days in the film industry, star kids were brutally trolled and received only hate on social media by angry netizens. As a result, some actors took time off social media while others turned off the comment section of their posts. One such celeb was Sonam Kapoor.

Sonam recently spoke to NDTV about dealing with online hate on social media and revealed that it put her in a negative space. She shared, “I had some stressful times in the last three or four months, mentally. There is a lot of stuff that happens on social media, there is a lot of hate and talk of a lot of things. It put me in a very low and negative space. But now I am much better.”

Talking about disabling the comments on her and her parents Anil and Sunita Kapoor’s posts, Sonam stated, “Yes I’ve switched off my comment section and my parents comment section because I don’t want my 64-year-old parents to go through this. They did nothing to deserve this. And I’m not doing it out of fear you morons I’m doing it out of common sense to preserve my mental health and my parents.”

Other than Sonam, Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan, Dharma Productions and Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty had also turned off their comment section.
