Sooryavanshi: Akshay Kumar Starrer To Release On 2nd April, Announcement To Be Made Next Week?

It has been a few days since the theatres were permitted to have 100% occupancy from 50%. This move was a relief for the theatres associations, whose market has gone down since the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. After the announcement, trade analysts believed that there would be release date announcements flooding in since many films had been waiting for this. Now, it seems like Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi might be the first big film to release in theatres.

If a report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, then the film would be releasing in April. In fact, it might happen on Good Friday, i.e., on 2nd April. A source said, “Rohit Shetty is leading the discussion with the theatre owners. Co-producer Reliance Entertainment is also a part of these meetings. The makers want to solve all the issues cropping up like payment of VPF (virtual print fee), revenue sharing, shortening of the window between OTT and theatrical release, etc. with the exhibitors. They are confident that there would soon be a consensus over these issues.”

But, expect nothing short of a grand announcement for the release date once the issues are resolved. And well, it might happen next week itself. The source added, “The team plans to announce the release date in a grand fashion. It'll surely be something to watch out for. After all, this is the first BIG film of Bollywood to release post-lockdown. It won’t be surprising if the announcement takes place on the 9th, which is, Akshay Kumar’s lucky number!”

Well, we had been eagerly waiting for the release of this one. It was all set to release in March end last year and just a week before that, the lockdown was announced. The film would star Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, along with Abhimanyu Singh and Jackie Shroff.
