‘Sushant Singh Rajput Was A Little Disturbed Because Of Lockdown, Was A Workaholic’: Producer Kamal Jain

One of the most talented and hard working actors of the Hindi film industry, Sushant Singh Rajput breathed his last on 14^th June. According to reports, he was under depression since the past few months and the police also found medical prescriptions for the same at his Bandra house. It was also suggested that Sushant was forced to take the drastic step after self-appointed ‘gatekeepers of Bollywood’ shut him out of the industry because they could not handle his talent. Actress Kangana Ranaut among others stated that he was made to feel worthless and was cornered by Bollywood biggies.

However, producer and Sushant’s friend Kamal Jain recently revealed in a chat with Pinkvilla that the actor was reading 15-20 scripts in a month after his last super hit film Chhichhore. He was very selective as he wanted to do big scale films. Kamal shared, “On the phone, we discussed about his projects, and he was quite focused on all the films in his hand, hence, I am surprised and shocked when I got the news of his demise this way.” That’s not all! Sushant and Kamal were also in talks for a big project.

Kamal further revealed that Sushant had 4 films in his kitty, which he was supposed to start immediately after the lockdown ended. The two had spoken last week and had planned to meet up once the lockdown was a little more relaxed. Recalling their chat, Kamal stated, “I spoke to him last week itself and it was about the film, we were planning together. He sounded very positive about the film too. He was a little disturbed because of lockdown. He was a workaholic, he would like to work 24/7, and now suddenly locked at home, so he was a little tense because of that.”

However, the producer does not feel Sushant was depressed. Kamal shared that the actor was a self-motivated, positive person and does not know where reports about his depression are coming from. He added, “I don’t know why he did what he did but I knew him for 9 years, and he was very positive.” Kamal also shared that Sushant sometimes felt like an outsider but he was self-motivated and quite focused, so that never affected him.

The police are currently taking statements from the people who had spoken to or met up with Sushant in the last 10 days before his death.
