Takiye Pe Sar Was First Written After My First Break Up In The States: Amanda Sodhi

Lyricist/Singer Amanda Sodhi who has collaborated with Drishyam Play for her single ‘Takiye Pe Sar’ is ecstatic about its releases on the web platform, Desimartinni.com got in touch with her to understand it even better. It is all about the association with the production house that makes the difference especially when it comes to making a music video, talking about her association with Drishyam Play, Amanda quipped, “It has been incredible, everyone in he entire team has been extremely supportive, everything is so organised and it has definitely been one of the best experiences so far.

Shedding more light on her beginnings, she said, “I was born and brought up in Washington DC, I was in LA writing and directing short films, showcased in number of festivals, I always knew I wanted to pursue music all the while, so I didn’t let hat dream fade away.”

When anyone comes down to Mumbai, the city of dreams for the first time to do make a mark, it definitely gets difficult and Amanda too had a taste of the struggle, she asserted, “I was very naïve, didn’t know how it works, I wasn’t properly trained, didn’t know ins and outs of the industry. The music industry in Mumbai is not structured as I thought it would be, however I did make 5 singles and Takiye Pe Sar would be my sixth song, I composed the song and written the lyrics and have also sung the song.” Talking more about her association with Mukta, the project head of Drishyam Play Mukta Bhatt, she said, “Mukta has been fabulous, super supportive and knows how to make you feel comfortable.”

The singer who is pepped up about her new single further informed, “Initially the song was a poem after my first break up in US, the song has evolved with the phases in my life. It is about the journey of two girls from different walks of life and they happen to meet and the video is about that.”

She also shared quite a bit about her forthcoming project, “There are quite a few things in the pipeline, after this I have written the lyrics for music director Sagar Desai (A Death In The Gunj fame), which would be Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming series and I have also decided every year I will be putting out one single in the scene, said she.”
