Tere Bin Laden Turns 8 Today And We Want To Thank The Headache That Made It Possible

What is the first thought that comes to our mind when you hear the name Osama Bin Laden? Even after 7 years of his death, his name inspires only images of guns, violence and the horrors of world terrorism. But back in 2010, there was one man who made a film that was about Laden but instead of making us cringe in horror, it made us laugh. The man was Abhishek Sharma and the film was Tere Bin Laden which released on 16^th July 2010 and completes 8 years today.

So how did the director Abhishek Sharma come up with a humorous story around the world’s most wanted and dreaded terrorist that not only became a niche hit but is still remembered fondly eight years after its release? Well, the credit belongs to a headache, yes you read that right!

It so happened that one day director Abhishek Sharma was having a splitting headache and he decided to tie a piece of cloth on his head like a turban to ease his throbbing temples. His wife was quick to point that the piece of cloth tied like a turban made him look like the dreaded terrorist Osama Bin Laden. This small incident got Abhishek thinking and he soon he came up with the idea for the film in which a Pakistani journalist finds an Osama look-alike and arranges for a fake interview that would make him famous.

The film starring Ali Zafar and Pradhuman Singh is still popular and we never thought we would say this, but we are glad that Abhishek Sharma had a nasty headache.
