Thappad Actress Taapsee Pannu On Nepotism: I Have Been Rejected, Thrown Out Because Of Starkids

Every year, many actors are introduced to the Hindi film industry. While some are exceptionally talented actors, others are great dancers. Some may excel at romantic comedies, while others do better at the action or thriller genre. However, there are some actors who can do it all. Taapsee Pannu, who is currently riding high on the success of her latest release Thappad, is one such all-rounder. Even though she never had a godfather in Bollywood, today she is one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry.

In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, the bold beauty opened up about her struggle in the very beginning of her career and shared, “Nobody bothered to notice me for the longest time. I was never the centre of attention because people thought I won't last long. I have had people openly writing me off saying 'nobody wants to meet you'. Even when I had successes, people felt ek do aur, zyada se zyada and then she'll fade off.”

Taapsee also spoke about her battle with nepotism and revealed, “There was a time when it happened to me and I had cried. I have been rejected and thrown out because of starkids. But it doesn't mean it won't happen now. It can happen to me today as well.” She went on to add, “You know that there will be nepotism and favouritism here like any other industry. You can just keep whining and crying about it. Or you can just make your way through it because it's not something that will change anyway.”

Taapsee will next be seen on the big screen in Aanand L. Rai’s mystery thriller Haseen Dillruba, alongside Vikrant Massey, Harshvardhan Rane and Hansika Motwani. We are sure the beauty will win hearts with her performance once again.
