Unable to sign Arjun Kapoor for a project, makers of upcoming crime drama rope in Bhumi Pednekar for the role: reports

We often hear stories of actors getting replaced in projects in Bollywood. What is not common is hearing news of an actress replacing an actor in a project as it has happened in the case of an upcoming Red Chillies film where filmmaker Pulkit was unable to get Arjun Kapoor to sign on for a film has signed on Bhumi Pednekar in the role instead.

The Bose Dead or Alive fame filmmaker is said to working on a film project tentatively titled Bhakshak where he has roped in Bhumi to play a cop after Arjun had to turned down the film due to prior work commitments. A Free Press Journal report has a source close to the project revealing that the casting has been based on a character instead of being based on gender.

This news has Bollywood turning a new leaf where casting irrespective of gender can be a welcome change. The source has claimed that the makers wanted a saleable name to be a part and Bhumi is now busy signing paperwork before the beginning the shoot.

Bhakshak is said to be based on the shelter home sex scandal case from Muzaffarpur, 2018. The actress will lead the film as an investigating officer.

More details on the project are awaited.
