Unlike PM Narendra Modi Which Got Stalled, These Films Signed By Vivek Oberoi Never Released

Vivek Oberoi’s PM Narendra Modi has been caught in a whirlwind of troubles ever since it was announced. The film has currently been banned from releasing in theatres by the Election Commission till the Lok Sabha elections 2019 are complete. That certainly makes it a troubling time for the actor who was last seen in the mega-flop Bank Chor in 2017. But as one may be aware, Vivek Oberoi is not unknown to controversies and problems, his fight with Salman Khan capping all the rest.

Modi’s biopic and all the hoopla surrounding the film had many hoping that the film would help resurrect Vivek Oberoi’s career, but what many are unaware of is the fact that the actor has signed on many film projects that didn’t take off let alone got stalled like this one. Baraat – Vivek Oberoi and Kareena Kapoor who starred in the film Yuva together had also signed on to star in Naksha director Sachin Bajaj' s film Baraat. Milan Milap Zaveri along with Tushar Hiranandani were writing the script for the film in 2004, but the film was shelved later for unknown reasons.

Rock – Ram Gopal Varma in 2002 was making a musical starring Vivek Oberoi and Raveena Tandon. The film was titled Rock which later got shelved. Vivek made his debut in the same year with Company which was also directed by RGV.

Sangeeth Sivan’s shelved film – In 2003, Vivek Oberoi signed a film opposite Esha Deol which was to be directed by Apna Sapna Money Money director Sangeeth Sivan. The film was shelved before it went on floors.

Timbaktoo – Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi starred in the film ‘Kyun Ho Gaya Na?’ together after which Vishal Bhardwaj got them on board for Timbaktoo. But since he was unhappy with the script, Vishal Bhardwaj himself dropped the project.

Notting Hill Remake – Zoya Akhtar wanted to make a Bollywood remake of Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts’ romantic drama Notting Hill in 2002. She also signed Kajol and Vivek Oberoi for the project but later shelved it herself.
