After winning hearts with his killer dance moves in Street Dancer 3D, the handsome and very talented Varun Dhawan is all set to wow the audience yet again with the much-awaited Coolie No. 1. Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, the comedy also features the gorgeous Sara Ali Khan in the lead and is a remake of Govinda’s 1995 film of the same name. While Varun will take inspiration from Govinda’s ‘tapori’ language, buzz suggest that his character will be very different.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Varun’s character will be a die-hard fan of the original Disco Dancer, Mithun Chakraborty. He will not only mimic the actor’s speech but will also be seen acing his mannerisms and pelvic movement. A source was quoted saying, “Varun is a great mimic himself and his favourites are Mithun da, Akshay (Kumar) and Salman (Khan). He has done take-offs on them on public platforms. Of course, doing it on the big screen required multiple workshops and reading sessions.”

The film was earlier slated to hit theatres on 1st of May. However, the release date is now uncertain due to the coronavirus outbreak. A source close to the development shared, “The call will be taken only after the situation gets back to normal. But it is definitely not arriving on May 1 now. Maybe June, July or even later, depending on when the scare subsides. The producers of all the big films will come together to chalk out a release calendar for the second half of 2020.”
