When Rohit Shetty Was Akshay Kumar's Body Double In A '90s Film, Even Learned How To Walk Like The Star

Rohit Shetty has only amped up the action game in Bollywood while successfully cracking the masala entertainment factor that has audiences hurtling to the theaters every time one of his film releases in theatres. The filmmaker is now gearing to release Sooryavanshi in theatres where he has directed action star Akshay Kumar for the very first time. He announced the release date for this much awaited film on his birthday today and fans now eagerly wait for April 30 to watch the film.

Sooryavanshi, however, is not the filmmaker’s first collaboration with Akshay. Yes, Akshay did make a tiny cameo on Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba introducing his character but that’s not what we are talking about. Rohit Shetty who set foot in Bollywood in the ‘90s as a teen assisted on many films starring Ajay Devgn including the film Suhaag which also starred Akshay.

The interesting thing is that Rohit was Akshay’s body double in the project. On one of the TV shows judged by filmmaker, he had revealed that he even learned Akshay’s walk for the film 1994 film. Akshay who was a guest on the show even revealed that Rohit back then referred to both Ajay and him as ‘Sir’ on the sets.

So many years later the director has Akshay performing his own stunts for Sooryavanshi where he will even be seen jumping from a helicopter sans a harness. The film’s trailer which released a year ago definitely has assured that it is one to watch out for and with Rohit at the helm of affairs we truly be assured that optimum entertainment is guaranteed.
