Nepotism has been a term that has been tossed around a lot for the past few years. The word has often pointed at the star kids in the industry and made victims of those who have made it without any connections in Bollywood.

While every actor in the industry has shared their opinion on the subject and acknowledged that connections do help star kids, Sonam Kapoor once took the liberty of defining nepotism and said shared it would be ‘disrespectful’ if she didn’t take advantage of her father Anil Kapoor’s hard work.

Talking to Arbaaz Khan on his talk show in 2019 Sonam stated, “I just want to explain what nepotism really means. Everybody really think that it is a relative of a person, but it actually means to get a job through any connection. I think people have misunderstood it or people don’t understand it or use the word for their benefit to put other people down.”

The actress also spoke about banking on her father’s success in Bollywood and added, “Another thing that I would like to that is that my father did not come from an illustrious family. He’s been in this industry for 40 years and he has worked hard only for his children. If I don’t take advantage of his hard work, which he has done for us, I think I’d be a little disrespectful to his work and to what he is trying to do for us. Because every man or woman, a mother or a father works for their children.”

Sonam made her debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007 and only did her first film with her father Anil Kapoor, Aisha, which the actor had produced in 2010.
