With star kids Ishaan Khattar and Jahnvi Kapoor debuting with the project and Karan Johar backing the film that is based on a national award-winning Marathi film, Dhadak is quite obviously one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Why Is Nobody Talking About This Superhit Bengali Film That Was Almost The Same As Sairat And Dhadak?

Adapted from the Marathi film Sairat that came in 2016, the story of Dhadak, for those who have seen Sairat, is not exactly something new. In fact, even if you have not seen Sairat, it is safe to assume that the story of two star-crossed lovers is not something new in Bollywood.

However, the difference between a classic and a cliché often lies in its execution, and perhaps this is where Sairat won the battle, and we are hoping that Dhadak would create the same magic on-screen. While we loved Sairat and can’t wait for Dhadak to hit the screens, we can’t help but remember a certain Bengali film from which a major scene in Sairat was heavily inspired by.

In the film Sairat when Archie and Parshya flee their village to start a life together and reach Hyderabad, they do not get a lodge or a hotel to stay as they are not married. Out of sheer desperation, they take shelter in movie theatres at night and keep on watching one film after another so that they don’t have to sleep on the street. Upon being asked to vacate the hall, they keep traveling in buses from one place to another to avoid the same fate. By the end of the night, they are shown to be exhausted until they finally get a place to stay.

The exact same scene was also there in the blockbuster Bengali film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar which came out in 2008. The story of the movie was that of a spoilt and rich girl from a small town of Bengal falling in love with a mechanic and eloping to Kolkata and the following hardships that take a toll on their innocent love until they are forced to face the harsh realities of life and society. Yeah, you get the drift!

Here is the scene we are talking about. We are sure you can remember the very similar scene from Sairat.

The film introduced actors Priyanka Sarkar and Rahul Banerjee who later went on to become popular faces of Bengali film industry. Director Raj Chakraborty who directed the film is probably one of the most successful directors of all time in Bengali films right now.

The most surprising aspect about the whole episode is the facts that even after the amount of buzz that surrounded Sairat, this bit was never discussed by anyone.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Dhadak will also include the same scene or not and even if it does will this similarity be brought up and discussed.
