When the nationwide lockdown was declared to help stop the spread of coronavirus, production of upcoming episodes of television shows was stalled. To keep the viewers entertained Doordarshan decided to telecast reruns of old series such as Ramayana and Shaktimaan. Soon, other channels followed suit and BR Chopra’s hit show Mahabharat also made a comeback on Colors TV. Actor Chetan Hansraj, who portrayed the role of Krishna's elder brother Balram, is delighted to revisit his old memories thanks to the rerun.

In a chat with DNA, Chetan took a walk down memory lane and remembered, “I was 14-years-old when I played Balram in Mahabharat, and it was completely magical. All of us used to get lots of feedback and messages from fans via letters. I was in school and every day I used to receive gunny bags full of letters. Back then, there was a photograph-autograph system with fan mails. So, fans would mail me an empty envelope with a return stamp attached and had to sign the picture and send it back with the letter. It was my daily routine.”
