Aastha Chaudhary opens about hosting her roka after losing her friend Sidharth: 'We toned down the ceremony, it didn’t feel right'

Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na actress Aastha Chaudhary is all set to tie the knot. The good news for the actor whose toka recently took place was marred by a hint of sadness as she lost her dear friend Sidharth Shukla all too suddenly at the beginning of the month.

Aastha is engaged to be married to Aditya Banerjee a doctor from Allahabad and their roka ceremony was held in his hometown on September 10. She met him through common friends and they instantly hit it off the actress revealed while talking to ETimes. She also revealed how she had told her friend Sidharth Shukla about her roka last month in one of the last few conversations she had with him.

Sidharth died on the morning of September 2 and his passing came as a huge shock for his family as well as the entertainment industry at large. Aastha says her roka was fixed for Ganesh Chaturthi in August since there were no other auspicious dates available. Talking about how the celebrations for her were affected after Sidharth's death she told the publication, “Unfortunately, I lost a very dear friend (Sidharth Shukla) on September 2, so we further toned down the ceremony. I didn’t post any pictures or speak about it earlier, as it didn’t feel right.”

Aastha and Sidharth were co-stars on Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na  who became friends. “I was quite close to Sidharth. In fact, during my second last conversation, I told him about my roka. He was very happy for me. In his inimitable style, he had told me, ‘Sahi hai. I am so happy for you. Ghar basa le.’ After that, I connected with him last on August 17. I am still grieving and yet to come to terms with this loss,” Astha further added as she spoke about Sidharth’s tragic demise at 40.

Aastha will be tying the knot in 2022.
