A Promising Project For Justin Prabakaran

Music director Justin Prabakaran carved a niche for himself in the industry with his work in Oru Naal Koothu, even today,  the Adiye Azhage song from the album is everyone's favourite. Now the scorer is all set to croon the tunes for Samuthirakani’s upcoming film Thondan. The film, which is based on a social issue stars Vikranth and Sunainaa in the lead. Four songs of the film, sung by Sean Roldan, Diwaker and Pradeep have been completed.

During an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Justin says, “There are five songs in the movie and I am sure Thondan will be a different experience for me. There is a song which has lyrics written by Yugabharathi and has vocals by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and eight-year-old singer Daya. This is a vocal-based song with minimal instruments. In the earlier days, composers used to score the tune according to the lyrics. But, Ilaiyaraaja changed the course, and lyrics started being written according to the tune! For this number, we took it as a challenge and went back to the old way of composing. We saw the visuals of the movie and then composed the song.”

Vivek and Yugabharathi have penned the lyrics of the album. Justin reveals that he has finished scoring the background music of for the first half of Thondan. Other than this, he is also composing music for films like Atharvaa, Sri Divya, Vidya Pradeep and Narain-starrer Othaikku Othai.
