Actress Rekha V Kumar has worked in many television serials and films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. While the actress has done many notable characters in serials, she rose to fame with Maanikya, which was one of the best movies of the year 2014. The actress is currently garnering attention with her negative role in the serial Deivamagal.

The actress plays the role of Gayathri in the serial where she is a baddie. In a recent interview, when the actress was asked about how she decided to do a negative character in the serial, she said, “I played the lead role in my Kannada debut. And I have played all types of roles-lead, soft-natured ones and character roles. While I was on a break post delivery, one of my friends was planning a serial in Kannada, and he suggested me to try a negative role. Initially, both of us were apprehensive, but it went well. This gave me confidence and when Deivamagal came, I was happy to take it up. I play Gayathri, a wicked character in the serial, which has completed more than 1200 episodes”.

However, the actress also maintains that she is opposite of what she plays onscreen. She said, “Unlike Gayathri, I am a soft-spoken woman in real. Though I appear serious, I am a fun-loving person who wants everyone around me happy. I am very easy-going and have no ego issues. But people around me say that I have an attitude and it's reflected in whatever I do. Probably, that's what is adding up to my character, especially when I play the evil ones”.
