    Annakodi: Plea filed in Madras High Court to restrict its release

    A.K. Ragupathy, president of the Thevar Pasarai Iyakkam has filed a petition against the flick, Annakodi in the Madras High Court, seeking a ban on its release. Ragupathy has claimed that the story of the film revolves around a girl from the Thevar community getting involved in a relationship with a boy from a Scheduled Caste and he found this content objectionable, at the same time offending the morals of their community.

    The counsellor of Ragupathy said, “The contents of the movie have offended Section 5B of the Cinematography Act, 1952. The film contains objectionable scenes and dialogues, which might incite communal disharmony and might bring about public disorder.” Annakodi is an upcoming Tamil film directed and written by Bharathiraja. It features Lakshman Narayan, Karthika Nair and Manoj Bharathiraja in the lead roles. The music of the film has been composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar.
