Gautham Karthik Has Confidence In Rangoon Director Rajkumar Periasamy

Debutant director Rajkumar Periasamy’s upcoming movie ‘Rangoon’ is all set to hit the theatre on June 9. The film features Gautham Karthik and Sana Makbul in the lead roles, and Lallu of ‘8 Thottakkal’ fame in a prominent role. Produced by AR Murugadoss, the film has been majorly canned in Chennai and a few portions have also been filmed in Myanmar.

Well, many actors usually feel hesitant to sign a movie having a newbie director. But, Gautham seems to have a different perception. Recently, the actor revealed that it was the confidence he had in Rajkumar that made him give the film a nod. “I said 'yes' purely because of the impression that director managed to create”, Gautham stated, adding, “He narrated this story beautifully and had an in-depth understanding of this subject”.

Gautham will essay the role of Venkat, a Tamil guy hailing from Burma, who comes to Chennai and tries to lead a life here. Touching upon how he managed to fit to his role, Gautham stated, “Both when we went to shoot in Burma, and in and around Burma Nagar here in Chennai, where most of the shoot happened, I hung around with the people from the community. The Burmese community here is a caring one. Even newcomers are welcomed warmly. It's a supportive and strong community”.

“I have put in a lot of hard work and I will be proud of having done this film even down the years”, the actor added. On a related note, Sana will be seen playing an aspiring singer named Natasha in the movie. The film will have music composed by newcomer Vikram RH, who has earlier assisted G. V. Prakash Kumar. Anish Tharun Kumar has wielded the camera for the film.
