    The High Court closes PIL on Prakash Raj


    The Madras high court closed a PIL filed against Prakash Raj which subjects to an advertisement on marriageable age of women and girls. The petition was filed by S Safiath who thinks the actor Prakash Raj is responsible for allegedly disrespecting women. The first bench which consists of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T.S. Sivagnanam was formed.


    Safiath also asked the Chennai Police Commissioner to stop the company from advertising it in newspaper and TV.  She also made Prakash Raj as the first, the commissioner of Police as the second and the Corporation of Chennai as the third respondent. The bench said, "Interestingly, the petition has been filed impleading only the cine actor as a party, with the Commissioner of Police and the Commissioner of Corporation impleaded as second and third respondents".


    The Judges said, "We are, thus, not inclined to entertain the PIL and it is for the petitioner to first put the concerned persons advertising their product to notice and to take action in accordance with law thereafter in view of the various remedies available. The petition is closed in the aforesaid terms". They also said that the petitioner has not served any notice on the persons responsible for the advertisement nor the broadcasting association firstly.
