Actress Julie Andrews who played the magical nanny in the 1964 film ‘Mary Poppins’ won’t appear in its sequel. Director Rob Marshall confirmed about the same. Actress Emily Blunt has been roped in to play the role Mary Poppins in the sequel.

“This is Emily's show, and I really want it to be Emily's show. I don't want it to be, 'Oh, here comes that Mary Poppins. I don't want that.' I really want her to take this and run with it, because she will be brilliant,” said Julie.

The 81-year-old actress has praised Emily by calling her amazing. Talking about Andrews, director Marshall said, "Julie was incredibly gracious. We talked about it in a very general way but she made it clear right up front.” Rob has heaped praises on Julie by calling her performance in the original as astonishing. Apart from Emily, ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ will also feature Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep.
