Actresses who come from north to act in south industry, go through a hard time, to get lip-sync right. They definitely need to rehearse a lot before coming to the sets. But actresses like Jyothika and Simran, never received a single complaint regarding lip-sync, even though they did not know the language well.

Jyothika, who recently made her comeback with 36 Vayadhinile, had admitted that the responsibility of having the perfect shot is more on the shoulders of directors than on actors, she said, “If they are serious about their heroines, they will never OK such a shot. In my case, Vasanth sir gave me the lines for my scene that will be shot the next day and made sure that I had memorized them by heart. Even today, I continue this habit and for 36 Vayadhinile, I had my director, Rosshan Andrrews give me my lines beforehand so that I could memorize them”.

The Chandramukhi actress remains honest to her work and confessed that her Tamil is not perfect yet. She said, “I wish I could dub myself and I tried dubbing for my recent film but the character that I play is a middle-class woman and she has a particular way of speaking. When we tested my voice, how much ever I tried, we felt that there was a certain bit of alien-ness in my Tamil. We did not want that to be a distraction and take away the impact the role has on a viewer and so, eventually, we decided to dub it with another person”.
