Kamal Haasan Finally Spoke On 'Kaala' Ban Controversy In Karnataka

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has finally opened up on the debate surrounding the release of superstar Rajinikanth's ‘Kaala’ in Karnataka. ‎Ulaganayagan met the chief minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy to commence a conversation about the sensitive Cauvery issue. He came to back ‘Kaala’ remembering the ‘Vishwaroopam’ controversy in 2013.

Haasan stated that it’s completely wrong to impose a ban on a film while addressing the media at Chennai airport. Haasan said, “Like how my 'Vishwaroopam' overcame several hurdles and became successful, I hope 'Kaala' will also win. My films have also been proposed bans in Karnataka. Cinema has become a soft target”.

Earlier, he was ridiculed by fans for failing to back Rajinikanth’s movie and landed himself in a mild controversy after he refused to comment on the ban. However, the star cleared his move by saying that the meeting with Chief Minister Kumaraswamy was regarding the Cauvery issue and not about films. Moreover, last night, a petition was filed at the Karnataka High Court by ‘Kaala’ producers, asking the court to provide security for the screening of their film in the state. Despite all these issues, directed by Pa Ranjith, ‘Kaala’ is all set to hit theatre screens on June 7.
