Leninbharathi directorial debut flick Merku Thodarchi Malai has made it to upcoming International Film Festival of Kerala. It will be screened under the Indian Cinema Now category. The story is about two actors who work as daily wage workers for a short duration and their day to day life.

"The story deals with the life and struggle of people living along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border of the Western Ghats. And I wanted to tell this tale as close to reality as possible, without any hint of artificiality. Antony, who has acted in minor roles in films like Kalavani, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Nedunchaalai, spent two years practising climbing the mountains like the natives of the place, and also worked as a labourer”, said Leninbharathi.

He added that except two actors, the rest of the cast members involved our local people from the region. The pre-production took not less than two years and slowly they got acquainted with the people there. Leninbharathi revealed that the most difficult part was to dub their voices in the flick.
