Monika gets hitched to Chennai-based entrepreneur

Kollywood actress Monika, who changed her name to Rahima after converting into Islam, recently got married to Chennai-based businessman Malik, who happens to be the son of actress Monika's father's friend. It was a simple ceremony attended only by close friends and family.

Monica debuted as a child artist in Avasara Police 100, but rose to fame with Azhagi. She had also acted in other famous films like Imsai Arasam Irandam Pulikesi,Varnam and Jannal Oram,whereas, Malik is into import and export of electronic items.

Last year at a press meet, she had said, "I didn’t convert for the reason of love or money, I am not such a person. I like Islamic principles, so I converted to Islam. I will intimate about my marriage to media once arranged by my parents and I really thank my dad for his full support. I was not convinced to change my name but finally, I have changed my name to M.G. Raheema (M – Maruthi Raj (Father), G-Gracy (Mother)). " She had also announced that she would quit working after her marriage.
