Pa. Ranjith Says He Does Not Want To Be Known As Dalit Filmmaker

Filmmaker Pa. Ranjith is enjoying the super success of his latest offering ‘Kabali’. The Rajinikanth starrer has shattered many records soon after its release and is doing a fantabulous business all around the world. The director has impressed in his last two directorial and he recently said that he addresses caste inequalities in his films because he was affected by it.

While interacting with the media during the film’s success meet, the director said that he don’t want to be known as a Dalit filmmaker. He shared, “I don't want to be known as a Dalit filmmaker. I touch upon caste inequalities in my films because I've been affected by it. Even if I don't belong to the oppressed community, I would have continued to speak about inequalities in the society”.

Ranjith added that every filmmaker should talk about such inequalities through their movies. At the work front, the director might work with Suriya in his next. Speculations are rife that the 24 actor will be seen playing boxer in the film, however an official confirmation is awaited.
