Marina Pictures which claims to have suffered losses in Trichy and Thanjavur, was reportedly the first distributor to move the court after police failed to process its representation. Following which Vijayabhargavi Entertainers, Capricorn Pictures, Sukra Films and Chandrakala Movies also said that they lost money.

Justice Sivagnanam has given 48 hours for Chennai police to take a decision on giving permission for distributors of Lingaa to stage hunger fast in the city. He further says that, "there is nothing that prevents individuals and organizations from taking the issues to the public to create awareness."
