    The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa made an announcement in the assembly on Aug. 26. She said that her government would construct a memorial for the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan. The actor was active during the latter half of 20th century and was one of the most respected film actors in India. 

    Superstar Rajinikanth praised the decision taken by the CM. The superstar said, “I sincerely thank the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to honour actor Sivaji with a memorial”. On the other hand, the multi talented actor, screenwriter, director, producer Kamal Haasan also thanked the CM for her noble gesture and said, “The government has added laurels to itself”.

    Sivaji’s versatility and acting skills helped him build a distinct identity in the industry. The late actor was seen in around 300 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. He became the first Indian movie actor to win a ‘Best Actor’ award in an International film festival.
