    Tamil films have faced opposition from religious groups now and then. Many Kamal Hassan movies have been opposed by such groups earlier. This time its superstar Rajinikanth who has been who has been warned not to do a Tipu Sultan biopic.

    According to reports, a Bengaluru based businessman and film producer are planning to offer Rajinikanth the lead role in the biopic on the Tiger of Mysore, Tipu Sultan. Even before the offer was made, Ramagopalan, the founder of Hindu Munnani has voiced his concern. According to him no Tamil actor should accept the offer of playing Tipu Sultan.

     The founder of the Hindu group added that the 18th century ruler was responsible for the mass displacement and killing of Tamils and Hindus and such a film would be an insult for the Tamils. He alleged that the film will portray him as a warrior who struggled for our independence, which is not true. He cautioned that if such a film is made then it would not be allowed to be screened anywhere in Tamil Nadu.
