    A special tribute to legendary Sivaji Ganeshan on his upcoming birthday

    One of the most venerable actors in India, Sivaji Ganeshan, ruled the cinema industry during the latter half of the 20th century with his versatility and stupendous acting skills. Ganeshan, titled Nadigar Thillagam, was born on October 1, 1928 and this year his birthday will be celebrated in a special way by giving an honorary gift to him.

    A number of his songs from his films will be presented at a concert to celebrate his birthday. Actors M.S. Bhaskar and Y.G. Mahendran will also perform to the songs at the special event. R. Arun Kumar, head of the South Zone Whistle Association, said, "We will perform 28 songs from Sivaji Ganeshan's films during the course of a three-hour programme. The proceeds from the event will go to Little Hearts, an organisation that works for the upliftment of the underprivileged.”

    He said further, "We are expecting the participation of actors M.S. Bhaskar sir and Y.G. Mahendran sir too. On the day of the event, members of the audience can also show their whistling talent through a special competition that we have planned for them.” The association, since its foundation in 2004, has given numerous performances. Kumar said more, "Whistling helps to supply oxygen to different parts of the body. It also helps in rejuvenating brain cells and serves as a good breathing exercise.”
