Suriya Calls Out PETA For Their Anti-Jallikattu Stand

As the temper flares with rising debate over Jallikattu, now the Singam star Suriya has come in support of the traditional event. He lashed out People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) by saying ‘paradoxical to see those aiding extinction of native breeds talk about cruelty to animals’. The Apex Court has already banned the bull taming festival, whereas the Tamil Nadu government is adamant to go ahead with Jallikattu.

"Thanks to all those who secured a ban on Jallikattu and prompted the youth to fight for a common cause. The people of the state should resist any move that would endanger "our heritage and identity." "Words such as heritage, identity and history are generally being used by scholars but are now the buzzwords among youth due to Jallikattu issue," Suriya said.

Earlier, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have criticized the move to ban Jallikattu. Interestingly, musician-actor GV Prakash Kumar participated in the event at Anthur defying the law yesterday. Suriya will next star in Vignesh Shivan’s Thaana Serndha Kootam.
