Suriya Coming With Next Edition Of Talent Hunt For Aspiring Filmmakers

Actor Suriya who came up with First Clap, a talent hunt for aspiring filmmakers, is coming up with its second edition. Suriya's 2D Entertainment will work on the initiative along with Moviebuff, with whom he worked on the first initiative also. Present at the event were young filmmakers including Karthik Naren, who directed Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru, Nithilan, who helmed Kurangu Bommai, Arun Prabhu, who is the director of Aruvi, and national award winner Raam.

Knack Studios will be supporting the initiative this year by extending its postproduction facilities free of charge for the contest 'Oru Kathai Sollunga', tell a story in 3 minutes for processing the Digital Intermediate and 5.1 audio mixes. The facilities will be awarded to top five winners before the theatrical screening. Anand won the last edition.

"Anand who won last year's contest has got the opportunity to direct a big hero now. The maiden edition of the contest was screened in 170 theatres across 40 cities in Tamil Nadu alone, with a minimum viewership of 34,35,432," revealed Arvind of QUBE technologies. Talking about the initiative, Suriya said, "A platform like 'First Clap' helps us identify raw new talent and exposes us to various innovative stories. If scripts are finalised, we will be interested in working with this new class of creators.”
