Swathy To Make Her Kollywood Debut with Ilai

Actress Swathy Narayanan who has quite a few Malayalam movies in her bag is making her debut in Kollywood with a female-centric movie titled Ilai. The film, which talks about the importance of girl education, is being directed by Bineesh Raj, who has about 18 years of experience ad films. Ilai will be Bineesh’s first movie as film director.

About the movie, the director says, “the story is set in 1991, in a village near Nagercoil, where girls are not allowed to study and are confined to the kitchen. But the heroine who dreams of being a strong woman like Indira Gandhi and Jayalaithaa, is keen to pursue her education. How she crosses all hurdles and achieves her goal forms the rest of the story.”

Swathy plays the titular character and gone de-glam for her character in the movie. Besides, Bineesh has scripted and even done the VFX scenes in the film. The movie which has wrapped up filming in Chennai imparts a strong social message.
