Thalaivaa producer Chandraprakash Jain fears about the film’s ban: I will be brought to the streets with my family

Dismay for Vijay-Amala Paul starrer Thalaivaa has not yet seen a single sign of relief about its release and to add fuel to the fire pirated DVDs and torrents of the film have already flooded Tamil Nadu markets. The film’s producer Chandraprakash Jain has been going through a tormented state of mind and said, “I will be brought to the streets with my family”, if the film doesn’t release this weekend.

He reinstated the fact that most of his money has been gone behind this project and now as Thalaivaa’s release has been delayed indefinitely in the state he has been “losing crores of rupees”. But Vijay’s fans seem to have heard his plea and has been quite active in taking action against the vendors and the buyers in the pirated movie markets. Through a video the actor appealed again, “The police and my fans have been very helpful in this matter. But things will be very bad for us if everyone watches this film online or on a pirated disc. I have never said that my films have been extraordinary or will do well. But this time, I am openly saying that this film is one that everyone will love. So please be patient and watch it when it releases in the next few days.”

A.L. Vijay-directed Thalaivaa, also starring Santhanam and Sathyaraj, was originally scheduled to release on August 9 but multiple serious issues stalled the film in Tamil Nadu. There was a bomb threat by a student revolutionary group, complications in the film’s tax waiver certificate and obviously the film’s controversial political content simultaneously led to the delay in the the film’s release at the last moment. Vijay said in a recorded statement, “We were unable to stop the film’s release in other countries and other states, that’s why it has released there. But for us Tamil Nadu is very important and the entire crew is upset and worried. We’re all wondering every morning if our film will release that day.” Overseas the film has been doing quite well, though. Producer Jain broke down while talking about the much-awaited appointment with CM J. Jayalalitha on the issue, “She is everything for Tamil Nadu and if she interferes in this matter and helps us release our film, then we will be eternally grateful.”
