V Sekar arrested for idol smuggling

Veteran filmmaker V Sekar has been arrested in the case of smuggling eight panchaloha idols worth 80 crore. The racket was to sell the stolen idols from three temples, two from Tiruvannamalai and one from Kancheepuram districts.  According to sources, eight antique idols were recovered in May after a small-time production manager was arrested this year.

The Director kept the idols at his home and even gave shelter to few people involved in the racket. The 55-year-old was arrested from his residence in K K Nagar, said Police.  Additional director general of police, Prateep V Philip revealed there are 11 more people, including a college student and a robber, involved in the racket.

V Sekar is one of the well known filmmaker who runs a production house called Thiruvalluvar Kalaikoodam. He has given many multi-starrer family entertainers like, `Vira ukketha Veekkam', `Varavu Ettana Selavu Pathana' and many more.  Now to see him involved in such a scandal is very demoralizing for his fans.
