Dayana Erappa, who is a former Miss India finalist and one of the most sought-after models on the runway, has recently bagged Mani Ratnam’s bilingual Nawaab, which is Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in Tamil. This film will mark Dayana’s acting debut in the industry. In a latest interview, the model-turned-actress talked about how she landed this project.

Dayana shares, “I was called for an audition by Mani Ratnam’s team. Initially, I thought it was a prank call, but later, I realised that it was genuine and sent my pictures. I even gave two rounds of auditions. But after a couple of months, the team called and told me that I was on board. I just couldn’t believe it”.

Moreover, she said, “I never thought I’d get into films; so the offer means a lot to me. It would be a dream debut and I could not have asked for more”. She talked about how she is preparing to get the nuances of acting right, she said that she has been training with theatre artists to improve her expressions and she also revealed that she would be watching several Tamil films as part of her preparation.
