    Film Exhibitors’ Federation bans release of Matinee

    Creating troubles for the makers of Aneesh Upasana'sMatinee, Mollywood Film Exhibitors' Federation has declined permission to screen the film in theatres as a “punishment” for not participating in their strike. Theatres across Kerala were closed down for nearly two weeks recently due to film exhibitors strike and the federation is allegedly creating troubles for those producers who didn’t participate in the strike.

    One of the producers ofMatineeinformed, "The organisation has announced a ban onMatineeto punish us for the fact that our company in Angamaly had not shut down their multiplex on the federation's orders during their strike."

    However, M C Gopi, general secretary of the exhibitors' federation, says, "We have not announced an official ban on the movie. Theatres might be refusing to screen the film because there are other films lined up for release. We would be taking a decision onMatineein our general body meeting on December 8."
