Kamal Haasan to premiere Vishwaroopam in LA

Surrounded in all kind of controversies before the release of his much-awaited multilingual filmVishwaroopam, megastar Kamal Haasan has decided to premiere the film in Los Angeles on January 10 far away from the home country, sources said. In the US the film will only be released in theatres as the actor could not work out a DTH deal there. The LA premiere has been planned because the senior star wanted to share his filmmaking experience with his technical crew from Hollywood.

Since the actor-director-producer has revealed his plans to screen the film on DTH TV one day before its theatrical release, he has been facing various kinds of problems including theatre owners’ threat to boycott his film. He had to file even a police complaint on Sunday after he received threats that his film would be pirated and power supply to the cinemas screening it will be suspended.

The complaint was placed with Additional director general of police (Law and Order) T K Rajendran and Kamal also mentioned the names of those who threatened him and their contact numbers. The actor also reportedly sought the help of state government.
