Police protection for Mani Ratnam

Mani Ratnam'sKadal,which was a total flop at the box office, seems to have created problems for the director. Mannar Mannan of Mannan films has filed a cheating case against Mani Ratnam as it suffered heavy losses due to his film.

Mannar ofMannan films says that he has bought the rights ofKadalfor 16 crore from Gemini Film Circuits. But the film did a business of only 2 to 3 crore from the theatres. Mani Ratnam, who is a partner of Madras Talkies, clarifiedMani’s statement thathe has nothing to do with Mannan Films as all the rights of the film had been issued to GFC.

A petition has been filed on behalf of Mani Ratnam, seeking protection for him. The police commissioner has provided Mani Ratnam the personal protection.
