    Wow! Kamal Hassan To Be Honoured By The French Government

    After being honoured by Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India, the 61-year-old legendary personality, Kamal Hassan, has added a new feather to his cap. The ace film-maker will be awarded the Chevalier de L'Ordre Arts et Letters (The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government, as part of France’s premiere award. He is also the recipient of the Abraham Kovoor National Award by the Kerala Yukthivadi Sangham for his Philanthropic activities.

    “Kamal Haasan has been appointed Chevalier de l'Ordre  des Arts Arts et Lettres (Knight in the National Order Arts and Letters) by the Minister of Culture and Communication,  France,” Hassan’s spokesperson said on August 21. He further added, “The award will be conferred on the 61-year-old veteran star at a special ceremony.” Interestingly, Kamal is the second Tamil star after Sivaji Ganesan to be privileged with the French award.

    This award is actually presented to recognize eminent artists and writers. People who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts in France and throughout the world also receive this honour. Other recipients of this award are Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nandita Das and Shah Rukh Khan.
